Editing and Placements
Part of UGC for ecommerce product pages
Placing UGC beside the buying question it answers
Map product-page questions to useful media positions and keep variant labels and claim limits beside the UGC they qualify.
Put UGC where the shopper is making the decision it helps with. A clip showing how a strap adjusts may belong near fit and size information.
A customer account of delivery should not stand in for the store’s delivery terms. Review the media and nearby text together: position can change what content appears to promise.
Map each question to a page moment
List the questions the page must answer, then identify where each arises. The gallery helps shoppers inspect appearance and actions.
A variant selector raises the question of which colour or size the footage shows. Specifications are better for exact dimensions and materials.
Delivery, returns and other terms belong with the applicable store policy.
| Buying question | Possible position | Necessary context |
|---|---|---|
| How does it open? | Near the gallery image of the closed item | Show the opening action on the listed model. |
| How does this size fit? | Near the size selector | Name the size shown; do not generalise from one fit. |
| What comes in the box? | Near the contents list | Compare footage with current package contents. |
| What did a customer think? | In an identified review area | Preserve the customer’s experience and any material limitation. |
If a specification already answers a question clearly, another clip may add little.
Keep the answer and its limit together
A clip may show one object fitting inside one compartment. If the object and filmed product variant matter to the conclusion, identify them nearby.
Do not place a broad “fits all” heading above narrow footage. Check what happens when a shopper selects another variant.
If the same video remains, make clear which model it depicts or use media for the selected variant.
Review comparison tables, badges and promotional copy around the clip, and the clip itself.
Check the order on a phone
Desktop columns can appear in a different order on a phone. Follow the actual page from product title through variant choice, price, media and purchase action.
Does the shopper reach the answer while deciding, or only after the point where it would help? Can a sticky control cover a caption or qualification?
Use a thumbnail or short label that names the answer, such as “See the clasp open”.
Keep a text answer where video cannot supply an exact fact or is inconvenient to use. If speech carries essential information, provide accurate captions and check that they do not hide the action.
Recheck when the page changes
Record the question, position, media version, filmed variant and nearby text. Revisit the pairing after a product change, new variant or template rearrangement.
Shoppers should be able to connect the question, evidence and limit without guessing.
